My friend the ghoul, part one

On the road, I tripped over a small notepad half buried in the sand, firing it into the air. The pages were blank, time had erased everything that had once been there save a few faded letters.

Two or three drags across the sole of my old sandal was all it took to resurrect the attached pen. Without thinking, I put the lot in my pocket. I would never have imagined that I'd be needing it so soon.

We had heard of a small shanty town, up in the north, in the middle of a desert plain. When we arrived, there were Sir Trotk and myself, and two bros; Mido and Ven.

The idea of a religion-free town cheered us up. Maybe we'd be able to take part in the Festival of AnnualRainfall, the Ascension of the Crow, or some group worship of the one they simply refer to as Deblyn. Would that merit a story?

Let's leave it for now in any case. The town is atheist...
