Please include the blueprint type that unlocks the structure, if known.
Building renamesEdit
Almost certainly no buildings have been deleted to check if a building has been renamed comparing the building descriptions is the fastest way but you can check in a town that has them built in your xml feed. To view your xml feed go to http://www.die2nite.com/xml/?k= and paste your external app key from your soulpage after the equal sign. DO NOT share the key with anyone, either save the xml with a different file name or just scroll down until you find the building entry you are after and check the ID. The old buildings IDs are at Buildings by number (season 2) if the ID matches one of those its a rename. Discordance 09:08, 27 July 2011 (PDT)
- After confirming your rename move the old page to the new name, don't create a new page because I will just overwrite it later when I get round to fixing it. The move option is a little hidden but anyone can use it, mouse over the down arrow next to view history. Once you have moved the page add a note about the rename under the notes heading and any other changes that were made to the building. Discordance 09:32, 27 July 2011 (PDT)
- Whoops and don't forget to move the data page too. Any move blocked by an existing page let me know on my talk page as I will have to do it. Discordance 13:13, 28 July 2011 (PDT)
new building pages: how toEdit
To add your new building first go to the wiki page of the same name and add the following.
{{MetaInfobox}}
Some descriptive text here explaining what the new building does etc
Save the page to create a building stub. To add metadata such as the image and the in-game description follow the instructions at Template:MetaInfobox/Buildings. Don't worry too much about the format of the building page itself thats still being worked out, a stub with a brief description and as much metadata as you can fill in is enough for now. Once the metadata is set up you will be able to use the {{MetaInline}}
and {{MetaIcon}}
templates elsewhere. Discordance 12:31, 28 July 2011 (PDT)
TO DOEdit
Conflicting reportsEdit
- Garbage Dump has been reported as having an uncommon blueprint, every town i've been in starts with it. Was this a season 2 holdover town and the only chance to discover the blueprints of the starting buildings, or are the starting buildings more random in distant towns and its possible to start without the dump? Discordance 05:37, 31 July 2011 (PDT)
- Every Season 3 town i've been in started with Garbage Dump. It was not available in my season 2 holdover town. --Chessmc
- War mill reported as rare?? could be a bug or a bad report. Discordance 05:50, 31 July 2011 (PDT)
- Wood dump reported as common, seems likely, check metal dump too. Discordance 05:50, 31 July 2011 (PDT)
- Check water filter blueprint. Discordance 05:53, 31 July 2011 (PDT)
OrderingEdit
Need more info for this but it appears that each section is arranged by ID per level of the building tree. So for example under workshop all the buildings unlocked by workshop are in ascending ID order, butcher, DF, cannon mounds, small factory, screaming saws, etc. Then everything under cannon mounds is sorted separately in the same ascending ID order. Season 3Edit
Possible new Season 3 building Builder's Merchant, either its tied to upgrading your house more than once a day or its tied to upgrading your house past House lvl. LokiTheKeeper 19:59, 22 July 2011 (PDT)
I'll throw up a template and quick guide for new building pages tomorrow. As well as fix any pages I can Discordance 20:56, 22 July 2011 (PDT)
Someone good and doing these sort of stuff please edit this page according to this picture, thanks. ChooJeremy 01:36, 23 July 2011 (PDT)
i#m not good with editing so ill throw the raw information in here:
Vegetable Plot - 60 AP - 10 patchwork beams - 10 water rations - 1 pharmaceutical products
Sluice - 60 Def - 50 AP - 10 planks - 15 water rations
I take it Sluice is a new building? It isn't in the wiki... ChooJeremy 18:14, 23 July 2011 (PDT)
Um, what's this about number? ChooJeremy 02:09, 26 July 2011 (PDT)
- Something else i've been meaning to for ages, its the number id from the die2nite xml feed. Useful for app developers and anyone curious about it. viewing them in order gives a rough idea of the order they were created in and any gaps from buildings not yet in our game. Building IDsEdit
How to find a building id:
- 1) Build the building
- 2) find your die2nite key
- 3) take the url: http://www.die2nite.com/xml/?k= and add your key to the end, (non working) example: http://www.die2nite.com/xml/?k=de63955c9ed475cd119cda04323200a2
- 4) look through the file. look for the entry: building name="THENAMEHERE" and then find id=
- 5) share this id with someone who will edit the wiki (the chat program at die2nite.net) or update it yourself.

SuggestionEdit
Add column for additional rations to the Pump section. --Alfalfawar 08:51, 23 October 2013 (PDT)
- Agreed! Great idea! Just had a look through the structure though, and from the way it's coded we'll have to add a new section in Template:BuildingsRow to retrieve the "water added to well" data, edit Template:MetaData to be able to hold something called "water added to well", add a line of "water added to well" to each water building's data file, and finally include a new column in the table for Pump section. Alternatively, given that buildings either provide defense, water, or neither (IIRC), we could consider merging defense/water added to well into one column - although that may require an even bigger overhaul in the coding. I'll see what I can do. -- Nickyh 16:13, 24 October 2013 (PDT)
