Please place your stats (km from town, zombie count and what you have done to the zone) here.

Just wanted to add that after a single improvement (permanent small bonus), I think massages appear. For example, there was: "After a quick look around, it looks like you could find a good hiding place here." and "This zone offers nothing more than minimal "natural" protection." You'll just need to make do with what comes to hand"

Message When
You reckon your chances of surviving here are hee haw... Might as well take some cyanide now.
You reckon your chances of surviving here are largely satisfactory, as long as nothing unforeseen happens. Zone 9km from town, 12 , no zombies, no building, no camping improvement. Also found on Zone 4km from town, 6 , no zombies, no building, no camping improvement.
You reckon your chances of surviving here are decent : you just have to hope for the best! Zone 9km from town, 12 , no zombies, no building, 1 camping improvement with Groundsheet
You reckon your chances of surviving here are decent : you just have to hope for the best! Zone 8km from town, 8 , no zombies, no building, 1 minor improvement.
You reckon your chances of surviving here are decent : you just have to hope for the best! Zone 6km from town, 9 , no zombies, no building, 1 minor improvement, a pack of zombies nearby.

TopographyEdit

Maybe someone could keep track of the messages posted after "improving" the campsite? I know that without improvement, it's blank. And there's a "minimal cover" one.

I'll get started on that. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure your chances of survival decrease within 4 km of town the closer you get, but any further than that no extra bonus is added. --Mazt 14:12, 20 June 2011 (PDT)

It's also been confirmed that you can upgrade each zone 10 times normally, or 6 times using DO's. Not sure if groundsheets/plywood/festering flesh are included in this figure.--Mazt 13:32, 23 June 2011 (PDT)

Plagiarism?Edit

I've noticed that some of the text from this page are pretty much copied and pasted from die2nite.com. Should we state the source or slightly modify the text so it's "in our own words"?

They're the blurbs from the buildings in the world beyond. It's not necessary to change it. The Wiki clearly states that most of the stuff on here wiki is copyright of MotionTwin (including images and descriptions, like these ones)

SurvivabilityEdit

Please put if you died or survived with the following quotes on your survival rate

Quote Life Tally Death Tally Average Survival Rate
You reckon your chances of surviving here are hee haw... Might as well take some cyanide now. 1 1 0%
You reckon your chances of surviving here are really poor. Maybe you should play heads or tails? 1 0 100%
You reckon your chances of surviving here are poor. Difficult to say. 1 3 25%
You reckon your chances of surviving here are limited, but tempting. However, accidents happen... 2 1 66.7%
You reckon your chances of surviving here are largely satisfactory, as long as nothing unforeseen happens. 2 1 66.7%
You reckon your chances of surviving here are decent : you just have to hope for the best! 4 2 66.7%

TestingEdit

We have a few tables set up, but none of them are really good for gathering information. I set up a spreadsheet to track camping information (let me know if I missed anything), and made it public. If you'd like to help spade, please fill out all fields. Multiple entries would be greatly appreciated (as you upgrade the zone, with/without camping items, etc.), but any information is valuable. If someone else has already started this, please speak up! Note: May or may not need to be updated for Season 4, tbd.

QuestionsEdit

Does anyone know what would happen if the whole Town tried camping the same zone, leaving enough members at Town for cover of the Attack, would anyone die or would everyone die?? --Alfalfawar 22:40, 22 October 2013 (PDT)

I'm certain it would go as one might expect: the campers attempt to camp the zone, and the citizens at Town hide/go watchmen and attempt not to get eaten. Most likely scenario is that most, if not all, campers die due to survival penalties from multiple campers in one zone, and the citizens in town survive, given enough defenses. If less than 8 (10? My memory is a bit fuzzy) citizens in total survive, the town enters chaos mode. If no one in town survives, the town is devastated while the campers live on. I do not know if chaos and devastation can occur simultaneously. --  Nickyh 04:56, 23 October 2013 (PDT)

Is there any chance that the presence of zombies in zones around a campsite have an effect on surviving the night after finding a Tomb/Hiding for the Night?

No, the zombies on other zones have no influence on the survival chance. Wheely (talk) 03:33, 24 January 2024 (EST)

Do zombies spawn in a cleared zone that is being camped? (As in, a campsite has 0 zombies before the Attack but during the attack a number of zombies spawn on the campsite.) If they do, does that change survival chances?

Yes, zombies can spawn on a camped zone if anywhere on the surrounding zone are zombies. That does not influence the survival chance. Note: if enough zombies were cleared on the camping day, no zombies will spawn the next day because of despair. Wheely (talk) 03:40, 24 January 2024 (EST)
