Clash of the Titans was an event organised by Workshop in Season 4 pitting 6 towns of 40 Heroes all of the same hero class against each other. It was the first community event in the history of Die2Nite officially supported by MotionTwin and intended to be continued (likely because it stimulates the players to buy hero days for participation). Being a hero of the correct profession for the duration of the town was an absolute requirement.

Notably, to facilitate setting up the initial composition, Epoq, the acting administrator of Die2Nite among other MT games, had prematurely implemented the mechanic of Private Towns that had not seen other uses yet (due to the lack of players who have the Architect skill unlocked). To aid with score accounting and town comparisons, SinSniper had set up a special extension to Oval Office.

Initially, there was a form where players could express their interest in the event. After MotionTwin had let the community know of their support and have issued a promotional announcement, the players had flocked to sign up officially. The way it was handled, a portion of players has been left out simply not being around to reserve a spot on time.

Even though Workshop had been organising the overall event, every town was managed by certain players before the start, dubbed town founders.

After the start, there were several video logs made by CrossKnights, Lerajie, Quent, UnluckyOrpheus, and LilMarie among others.

IncidentsEdit

In the course of the event, several incidents had occurred.

  • Eaters of Worms have had a player who did not adhere to the predetermined rules of the initial stages of joining town and immediately closed his account. To remedy this unfair disadvantage, R3DD3R was manually added to the town, in order to give the Survivalists a fair chance. Unfortunately, because 41 people were listed in the town database, the town technically did not meet the required "40 people" needed to open the gates. Because of this, the Survivalists were not able to open the gates for most of the second day. This was resolved later that day, and no further technical issues resulted because of this. As it had turned out in the end, losing a day of scavenging didn't affect the town's ranking.
  • Barricaded Hill of Thumb-Twiddlers had seen one death by unknown reason, Melchevik, his account being closed while still in town.
  • One of the guardians in The Goody-Goodies of Nobody Cares had ran out of hero days. To avoid them being shot in the head, the rest of the town had been supplying the fellow citizen with hero days by the means of   Brothers in Arms.
  • The event has seen a use of the Car Door exploit. It involved a pairing of a   Manbag and a   Car Door. If both were carried, clicking on the manbag dropped all the contents of the citizen's rucksack while still not subtracting 1 bonus CP the car door provides. Picking the door back up increased the CP value by one. As you can see, such trick could be repeated a desired amount of times. Use of this exploit during the event is believed to have forced MotionTwin to fix the problem.
