In this town, the only part where you can hide is, well.. nowhere. Except maybe in your house.
In this town, the only part where you can hide is, well.. nowhere. Except maybe in your Home.

In the first few days of the game, it is generally recommended to upgrade to Tent (costs 2 AP, uses no resources) but not to Hovel, which costs 6 AP that could be better used on Scavenging and .
Personal Chest
You can keep items in the Personal Chest at Home.
*Your chest begins with a capacity of 5 slots as a Hero, but can be expanded in several different ways:
**Unlocking the Hero skill Large Chested adds 1 slot permanently.
**Unlocking the Hero skill False Bottom adds 1 slot permanently.
**Installing Boxes adds 1 slot.
**Installing an Iron Chest adds 2 slots.
**The DIY project More Storage adds up to 13 slots.
*Other Citizens can from the personal chest if the player is out of Town unless countermeasures are installed.
*Home decoration items trigger their effect only when in the chest.
* increase the Home defence if in the chest.

Personal Chest
Actions
You can keep items in the Personal Chest in your House. Your chest begins with a capacity of 4 slots, but can be expanded in several different ways. Keep in mind that people can steal from your personal chest while you are out of town. Each citizen is allowed to rob once per day. Robberies will be recorded in the Gazette, if the thief is detected.
Two different types of actions are possible at Home:
*Actions: This is the interface for using installed DIY projects (like the Kitchen) or townwide usable buildings (like the Guard Tower).
*Use an object: This is the interface for using or combining items in the Inventory or the Personal Chest.

Recycle Home
Building upgrades
Residents who have died can also have their homes pillaged (works like a normal robbery). Note that items carried in rucksack are automatically placed in the chest of the deceased.
Building upgrades (home) are accessible at Home:
*Home upgrades: This is about building a new home, mainly for increasing Home defence.
*DIY projects: This is about work at home for various reasons.

15 AP are required to recycle a home to recover items in the chest and a chance to recover some of the items used to upgrade it (usually not worth it unless they've upgraded their home quite a bit and invested items in it, or if you need to plunder their home fast).
Home upgrades
*Upgrading the home increases the Home defence, the chance of surviving will be slightly higher.
*Additionally, 40 % of the the Home defence counts towards the Defence of the Town (80 % with Community Involvement).
*Both home upgrades and Construction Sites need AP and Resources, so communication with the other Citizens is essential.
*Upgrading the home is only possible once per day unless the town is in .
*Building the Urban plan reduces the requirements.

Sample text when you check their home:
{| class="wikitable" style="text-align: center"
quote start
You can recycle the house where ____[resident] lived. Everything found inside (i.e. in the inventory) will be placed in the bank. There is also a chance you could recover some of the materials used to build it.
quote end

is placed beside their home after you have successfully recycled their home.

Sample text when you finish recycling a home, In this case an empty hovel:
quote start
You have finished dismantling †[resident]'s house! All the objects that were in his chest are now in the Bank.
The town didn't recover anything useful from their house, there was really nothing of interest to take...
quote end
The text also appears in the bank log and gazette.

Defence
*Improving your home slightly increases your chance of surviving when zombies break through the gates during The Attack. However you generally survive much longer if you work with your citizens to improve the town defence.
*After the first upgrade, you will also be able to carry out your own home projects if you are a hero.
*House provides defence, which is the sum of House points, Improvements, Defensive Objects, and Hero Bonuses.
*Each Citizen's home contributes 40% (80% with Community Involvement) of the reported amount to the Town's over all Defence count. For example, a Hovel by itself provides 3 Defence to that citizen and 1.2 Defence to the Town. The defences gained from Fence and Reinforcements do contribute to the town's defences.
*You can only upgrade your home once per day unless the town is in chaos mode.
*Safehouse and higher level homes are protected from thievery, the lock is no longer needed.
*Urban plan reduces the resource cost of Safehouse and higher level.

Home Improvements
Playing as a Hero get access to special home improvements, which last until the end of the current game. Many of the home upgrades require active usage, and are inaccessible if you lose Hero status later on. However, passive upgrades, such as Chest and Defence improvements, should remain fully functional. Additional Defence provided to the Hero's home does increase the town's defence beyond the building's normal value.

To build any home improvement, you must first have built a Tent.

Unlike home upgrade which is limited to once per day under normal circumstances, you can upgrade as many times as possible for any kind of home improvements.

When successfully building an improvement:
quote start
Evolution of the ____ has successfully reached level X !
quote end

Fence
The Fence is a passive defence item that provides +3 defence to the Hero's home.

Home Laboratory
The Home Laboratory allows a Hero to be more successful in producing the quality drug Twinoid 500mg when combining 2 Pharmaceutical Products. Failure produces a random drug as if the two Pharmaceutical Products were simply combined; thus, a failure can still result in a Twinoid 500mg. Other possible outcomes include Water Purifying Tablets, Unlabelled Drug, Valium Shot, Anabolic Steroids.

The Hero will have a new option in his house: Prepare a drug.
* They must make sure to use this (which requires the two Pharmaceutical Products to be in the Chest) and not the normal option to use the Pharmaceutical Products
* They will get a warning if he clicks the Use link, but if he clicks it a second time, the Pharmaceutical Products will be combined without the benefit of the lab.

Kitchen
A Kitchen allows a Hero to transform any regular food items (6 AP) into either a Tasty Homemade Dish (success) or Dodgy Homemade Dish (failure). Success rate, and the maximum number of dishes that can be transformed each day, depends on the Kitchen's level. To transform a food item, first place it in your house's chest, and then use the Cook option under abilities.

Poisoned food items cannot be cooked because they are no longer considered as food but as poisons.

Cooking prevents people from being Infected or becoming a Ghoul which may be obtainable by eating several food items: Human Flesh (ghoul); Meaty Bone or Traveller's corpse (infection or ghoul).

As the food item is completely replaced in the process, Human Flesh or a Meaty Bone or Traveller's corpse turned into Homemade Dishes will not count for the Cannibalism distinction.

Also the resulting Homemade Dish will not provide a Broken Human Bone after cooking a Meaty Bone, or Gnawed corpse in the case of cooking Traveller's corpse.

Large Curtain
The Large Curtain is a cheap upgrade that prevents other players from peeking into your house directly from the Citizens List. However it does not prevent them from sneaking into your house to view what items you have in your chest. When they click on your house, there was an option to peek. They can still steal from you too if they wish to.

Reinforcements
DIY projects
Reinforcements lets you slightly upgrade the defence of your home. It may be useful in situations where you have the right items, but cannot afford more powerful house upgrades.
With at least upgraded the Home to a Tent, get access to special DIY projects, which last until the end of the current Town.
*There is no daily limit for building or upgrading DIY projects.
*Home defence giving projects count towards the Defence of the Town just like home upgrades.
*Both DIY projects and Construction Sites need AP and Resources, so communication with the other Citizens is essential.

Rudimentary Alarm
Other Citizens' Homes
With the Rudimentary Alarm, whenever somebody breaks into your house, the intrusion will be marked in the Great Register and on the intruder's House Page. This effect is independent of actually stealing anything, and triggers each time a break-in occurs. In addition of being marked for intrusion, it also causes the Terrified state.
The Citizen page gives access to the homes of the other Citizens. Several actions are possible:

* one item per day if the the citizen is out of town
{| class="wikitable"
*Register complaints for or worse

Siesta Time
Siesta Time™ restores 2 bonus AP to the Hero whenever it is successfully used. However, it cannot be used while at full AP already; it can, however, be used while at 5/6, taking the Hero to 7 AP. This improvement may only be used once per day.

In this town, the only part where you can hide is, well.. nowhere. Except maybe in your Home.

Personal Chest[edit]

You can keep items in the Personal Chest at Home.

Actions[edit]

Two different types of actions are possible at Home:

Building upgrades[edit]

Building upgrades are accessible at Home:
