MyHordes

From MHWiki

MyHordes is a game of real time strategy, where players attempt to survive in a world inhabited by zombies. An average game lasts from one day up to ten, but there have been reports where players lasted fifteen days...

The players (or Citizens) are randomly divided into groups of 40, and each group is allocated within a small Town where they must, in any method available, survive as long as possible against all odds. That includes The living dead, dehydration, infection, drug addiction and even their own community.

The main problem, however, are still the Zombies. Everyday at midnight (game time 00:00), the zombies launch an attack on the town. In order to survive against the attack, the citizens must build defensive buildings or use anything available to protect the town, and as days pass, more and more defence needs to be prepared to defend the town against the ever-increasing horde.

Buildings require materials and effort to be built: they do not magically materialize out of thin air, although considering the amount of resources available, the construction of them are indeed rather magical. The materials also need to be scavenged first.

During the day, citizens can leave the relative safety of the town to explore the desolate wastelands of the World Beyond to find weapons, materials and food. They may even come across Ruins which can be explored, or, with less fortune, come across danger...

MyHordes is mainly based on teamwork. One rarely survives against massive numbers of zombies by oneself. Hence, it is usually best to help one another and survive. After all, whatever is found by the citizens can be shared. It is impossible to gather enough materials for any building by one person, but with 40, the chances are much, much higher. A town's survival depends on their ability to organise and make the best use of the community's resources...

There are several highly recommended tasks that one should carry out each day in MyHordes.

  • Read the daily newspaper: it will inform citizens of yesterday's attack and deaths.
  • Check out the Forums: see what opinions other people have, discuss, argue or request for help.
  • Collect a Water Ration from The Well: drink water, or suffer the thirst. Lack of water leads to death!
  • Vote for the Daily Project: decide what the town should work together on to upgrade a building.

However, just because it is recommended, it is not necessary. In fact, some players have different thoughts about the way they should behave, choosing acts that benefit themselves the most - "selfish play". Generally, the community will choose to banish such citizens, but sometimes they outlast everyone in survival...
