You're wandering about in the World Beyond, when suddenly, you feel an eerie presence surround you. You start to pick up the pace, but out of nowhere they start to surround you. Several zombies have trapped you! You feel your throat close, but you force yourself to stop and think. The zombies don't seem to want to attack you... yet. They're just blocking your path, but by the time midnight comes they may start to get hungry. Better think fast...

Being trapped[edit]

In the World Beyond, each citizen has 2 Control Points (CP) (and each Guardian generates 4), while each zombie has one. If the zombies have more control points than the sum for all humans, the humans lose control of the zone, and whoever is in the zone is trapped (cannot move). For example, There are 3 zombies in your sector, and you are the only Citizen there. You generate 2 CP, the zombies generate 1 each. 3 zombie CP > 2 human CP, and you are trapped.

When you are trapped:

  • you cannot leave this zone
  • cannot scavenge or autoscavenge the area

If two players are in a zone that is under control, and one leaves, the zone will stay under control for 30 minutes even if there are more zombies than human CP. The remaining player will see a red notice with a 30 minute countdown.

The 30 minute countdown (and your zone control) will disappear if all humans leave the zone, and the zone will effectively become reset. To retain control for the 30 minute timer, at least one human must remain in the zone.

Don't panic[edit]

Don't Panic! Getting stuck in the World Beyond with zombies can seem scary, but it's part of the game, and even the best players get stuck now and again. Zombies will not attack you until 23:00 (server time), which is when The Attack starts. Meanwhile you have plenty of time to deal with it.

Options[edit]

When trapped, you still have a few tricks up your sleeve. Understand all the options first before you take action. Choose wisely. Don't waste your AP mindlessly.

Call For Help[edit]

Highly recommended especially if you are a newbie.

If you choose to call for help, you should open a new thread on the town forum with a title of "call for help". Please list down the following information:

  • the amount of zombies
  • whether you are wounded/infected
  • how many AP left?
  • have you eaten or drunk water today?

Let's see if someone will respond and help you take control of the zone. You will usually get a response if you are in an organized town.

If someone responds and arrives, they will provide (at least) 2 control points and perhaps bring a weapon to kill the zombies.

If nobody responds, try to bump the thread some time later. Perhaps they miss your thread.

If nobody arrives, then you will have to consider other options.

Fighting[edit]

Each zombie killed means one less control point for them. Kill enough of them, and you'll be able to regain control of the zone.

Fighting with a weapon[edit]

Highly recommended but only available if you have a weapon.

This action costs no AP. It costs ammunition if the weapon has ammunition (can't use if it is running out). There is a risk of breaking if it is a melee weapon. There is a risk of disappearance if you use an animal as a weapon.

Click on the relevant "use" option to use your weapon. Different weapons have different kinds of success rates. Find the specific weapon on the wiki for details.

Fighting without a weapon (1 )[edit]

Not recommended.

If you choose to fight with your bare hands, you cost 1 per attempt with minimal success rate. There is about 4%~8% chance of killing just one zombie, but otherwise there are no other risks.

AP are usually wasted for nothing. You should call for help and ask someone to save you, especially if you are in an organized town. You should only consider it if nobody arrives and you have no weapon with you.

If successful, you will also earn the Fights of despair distinction.

Fleeing[edit]

Not recommended. Usually frowned upon as an unwise choice.

If you choose to flee from the zone, you can move away but you will get Wounded. When you get wounded, you have a chance of getting infection the next day. Unless you have Infirmery built in your town which then you can spend AP to cure wound and infection, it is hard to cure wound because it requires a rare Bandage.

You should only choose this option in extreme situations.

You cannot flee from zombies if you are already Wounded.

Camping[edit]

If all else fails, you can also take the risk of camping (hiding yourself) in the zone for the night, hoping that you can hide yourself from the horde attacking the town, as well as the zombies that have been staring at you since your arrival. Perhaps tomorrow someone will be able to come and rescue you.

If you don't camp, you will definitely die when The Attack starts.

Camping in a zombie-infested zone has reduced chances of survival. Each zombie makes it harder to survive without becoming dinner. The further you are away from the town, the higher chance you can survive his night.

You can click on "inspect this zone" to estimate the chance of survival of camping here. Then you will be offered a number of options to improve the chance.

  • You can choose to improve the campsite permanently at the cost of 1 , which gives 5% (permanent) boost to camping survival chances. You won't be allowed to improve further if it has been improved over 50%.
  • After maximizing campsite improvements, don't forget to spend 1 to find a tomb for a 8% (temporary) campsite boost in surviving just this night.
