Say what you want, but nobody can survive the apocalypse. Eventually everyone dies, but days before that, several strategies can be deployed to prolong the survival of the town by just a few extra days.

Zombie AttackEdit

No matter how good a   Town is, eventually   The Attack will be too much for the   Town Gates to handle. Zombies will start to pour into the town, causing casualties and   terror. This means endgame, and a change of strategy is needed to prepare for the inevitable.

One common strategy is to have 10 people stay inside town very high   Home defenses and everyone else   Camps. It is believed that this reduces the rate at which the magnitude of   The Attack increases, and the focus of home defense allows citizens to survive instead of die, although they will become   Terrorised.

The   Town Gates are sometimes purposely left open when using this strategy to save the   of opening and closing them. Some speculate that a much higher proportion of the attacking zombies that enter the town do not attack anybody (see: The Attack#Lazy zombies) if the gates are open, possibly due to the game giving players a "second chance" for making the "mistake" of leaving the gates open.

Zombie SpreadEdit

While   The Attack happens at midnight, zombies present on the   Map will also slowly spread and make the   World Beyond dangerous, limiting the zones that players can   Scavenge for   Resources.

By endgame, most zones will be marked red for "more than 4 zombies", and   Camping becomes extremely risky as citizens may become trapped while headed for the   Ruins to camp.

NotesEdit

  • Towns prior to Season 3 have sustained extremely long by relying on the   Search Tower's abilities to replenish zones, allowing them to bring back   Defensive Objects and building resources. Eventually the town succumbs to   Dehydration and zombies, but this strategy has allowed extremely organized and successful towns to reach day 40.
    • After Season 3,   Blueprints were introduced to limit building choices, and   Defence provided by Defensive Objects were decreased significantly, so this strategy is now obsolete.
